What to Do in an After-Hours Emergency

If your pet needs urgent care after-hours, please contact our referral emergency animal hospital that can provide your pet with 24/7 specialty emergency care.

Recognizing an Emergency in Your Dog or Cat

If your pet experiences any of the following, please take them directly to an emergency vet:

  • Traumatic injuries (hit by a car, falling from a great height, etc.)
  • Bleeding from the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth
  • Vomiting/diarrhea for more than 24 hours
  • Deep wounds that won’t stop bleeding
  • Blood in vomit, urine, or stool
  • Encounter or fight with a wild animal
  • Difficulty or inability to urinate
  • Pressing head against the wall (indicates a neural problem)
  • Ingestion of a known toxin
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Seizures
  • Bloated abdomen that feels hard to the touch
  • Unable to walk or stand
  • Fever (ears and nose feel hot)
  • Eye injuries
